OUR PROJECT
The project is a
continuation of activities for people with intellectual disabilities. The aim
of the project is to improve the situation of people with intellectual
disabilities during the covid19 pandemic by creating tools for remote art.
therapy. For many years, the Foundation has been supporting the rehabilitation
of disabled people in Occupational Therapy Workshops, implementing cultural and
educational projects. WTZ is a day care facility for people with intellectual
disabilities. It deals with social and vocational rehabilitation and improves
the mobility and manual skills of participants. The best form of therapy that
improves manual skills, eye-hand coordination, and increases the level of
self-satisfaction and self-confidence, is art therapy, i.e. a method based on
broadly understood art and creativity.
During the pandemic, we noticed that
isolation and discontinuation of therapy had drastic consequences for the
functioning of people with intellectual disabilities. Trying to provide support
by phone is not enough. It is necessary to create tools to facilitate remote
work with this particular group, this tool must be properly prepared, in a
simple and clear way, it is to provide step-by-step instructions with many
repetitions and demonstrations. The image supported by a conversation with the
instructor will significantly facilitate the performance of the assigned
activities. We will create 10 instructional videos enabling distance art
therapy. We are currently implementing the international project "Theater
in the fight against virtual threats" – this experience shows us that
thanks to international cooperation we are able to create products of the
highest quality, usability and meeting the highest educational standards.
Drawing on the experience of partner countries, we complement each other by
making our work even more valuable and directing it to a wider audience - we
give it a global character. Thanks to international cooperation and the
experience of partner countries, we want to improve the situation of people
with intellectual disabilities during the covid19 pandemic. This is the main
goal of the presented project and our activities. We will learn about the
situation of people with intellectual disabilities during the covid19 pandemic.
We will learn about their needs and expectations during isolation, when they
have been deprived of therapeutic and rehabilitation support.
